Resumo: The present research was carried out by requirement of the Distance Modality of the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), through the construction of a TCC for the conclusion of the graduation in Teaching Methods and Techniques, in the academic period of 2019-2020. Its theme: Storytelling in early childhood education. In the first moment, a bibliographic research was carried out, with a survey of authors and texts that were linked to the researched subject, based on the readings and the interest of the proposed theme. The objective of this work is to show the importance and usefulness of stories told in Early Childhood Education for the child's cognitive development. The problem of work is in children's literature that it can be an efficient methodology in the process of training children, enabling an affective and playful relationship that is contextualized and expanded with language. The work is justified in understanding reading and writing. The study has a qualitative and quantitative character, in which it sought to achieve all the research objectives. At the end of the research, it showed the influence that storytelling has on early childhood education.
