This work aims to analyze the phrasal constructions of the character Mestre Yoda, from the Star Wars saga, since in Brazilian Portuguese, the canonical order of the constituents in the sentence is: subject, verb and object (SVO), but the character does not always follow the common pattern of Brazilian Portuguese due to the fact that he is a fictitious speaker who uses the grammar of his language, but with the vocabulary of the simulated language. Samples of utterances issued by Yoda will be analyzed and the work will seek to establish patterns in their utterances, trying to understand the logic of their inversions. As a theoretical basis for the analysis, the concepts of Principles and Parameters (KENEDY, 2013), Linear Order and Hierarchical Order (CHOMSKY; GALLEGO, 2020), Merge (CHOMSKY; GALLEGO, 2020) and Topicalization (Carvalho, 2014) will be used. |
