Resumo: In the current scenario, in which banking competitiveness is increasingly fierce, the implementation of strategic tools that encourage the collective creative process and encourage employees to develop new solutions in a systematic and collaborative manner is increasingly advancing. In the banking environment, charging for objective results and the performance of each employee can be controlled, in real time, through electronic systems. One way to encourage professionals to create collaboratively is the structuring of processes that guide and mobilize companies’ efforts for innovation. Thus, Design Thinking emerges as a creative methodology to develop innovative products. The professional facilitator of the Design Thinking process, the design thinker, plays a central role in the application and facilitation of this innovation process. In the Design Thinking facilitation processes, the design thinker performs the meeting in which the individual and the collective are developed and mixed with beliefs, meanings, affections and contradictions. Considering that work is a space for the construction of meanings and identity of the subject, this dissertation analyzed the meanings of work for design thinkers in a Brazilian financial institution. For theoretical foundation of this dissertation, an Integrative Literature Review was carried out to investigate publications on the subject. The study as a whole is qualitative in nature and the collection of information in the field took place through semi-structured interviews to analyze the meanings of work in the individual, organizational and social dimensions through the participants’ responses. The study revealed that the main meanings of work for professionals who work as a design thinker in the financial institution are related to being performed efficiently and leading to a result; to be intrinsically satisfying; to be a source of satisfying human relations experiences; be morally acceptable; guarantee the worker’s safety and autonomy and keep the worker busy, making him feel useful. The study presented here contributes to understand the meanings of work for the researched design thinkers, corroborating the results found by Morin et al. (2003), thus expanding the framework that makes up the characteristics of a work that makes sense.
