Resumo: In mechanical engineering, column sizing necessarily involves a stability analysis of buckling, a serious phenomenon in slender structures that must be avoided at all costs, as it can lead to a sudden and catastrophic failure. Due to the relevance of this study and the current need for computational tools to solve engineering problems, this work aims to implement a simulation using the Simulation feature of Solidworks software to determine the critical load of buckling in columns, that is, the load supported by a column when under an axial compressive stress. As theoretical foundation in the development of this, the Euler’s method was taken as base. It was verified that the simulation was able to solve the problem analyzed in a short period of time and, when used in attempt to ratify theoretical concepts addressed throughout the work, provided satisfactory results.
