This reading proposes to verify as it happens the approach of the characters Francesca and Paolo, ascertaining the elements related to the sin of lust present in all the Canto. Here the literary analysis touches on questions that are of social order, characteristic of the time of its writing, which also reflect existential aspects, especially for dealing with love and sin, as well as discuss about tragedy and comedy, which accompanies the title of the work, with the purpose to understanding Dante's critical depth. Thus, we understand that love is represented from the ideals of courtly love that seeks to remove the tone of perversity from the sin of Paolo and Francesca. O objetivo desse trabalho é apresentar e analisar como se dá a representação do amor no ‘Canto V’ do Inferno de Dante Alighieri, no livro A Divina Comédia, uma obra muito conhecida, canonizada, complexa e aberta a inúmeras interpretações. Essa leitura propõe verificar como ocorre a aproximação das personagens Francesca e Paolo, averiguando os elementos relacionados ao pecado da luxúria presentes em todo o Canto. Aqui a análise literária toca em questões que são de ordem social, características da época de sua escrita, as quais refletem também aspectos existenciais, em especial, por tratar do amor e do pecado, bem como discutir acerca de tragédia e comédia, que acompanha o próprio título da obra, com a finalidade de compreender a profundidade crítica de Dante.
