The present work aims to analyze the raw material stock policy (aluminum) of a company in the metallurgical sector, located in the Southwest region of Paraná. The methodology used regarding the objectives is descriptive and documental. As for the technical procedures, it is a case study in an industry specialized in the manufacture of cookware. In the data collection technique, semi-structured interviews and document analysis were used. The results showed that in 2020, the company's inventories now being studied were impacted by the pandemic caused by COVID-19 which led to the lockdown (closes everything) in several Brazilian cities and also in other countries in which Mercosur is included. . This scenario triggered a very serious difficulty in scaling the stock of products to meet sales. Among which, the following stand out: lack of products due to sales that were higher than projected (year 2020); excess of products in stock due to non-fulfillment of sales (2021) and lack of raw material (aluminum), reflecting the social restrictions imposed on some segments of the economy. To achieve better results, it is necessary to pay attention to details considered strategic in material management, such as knowing how much to keep in stock and when to restock. Given this scenario, this work seeks to analyze an inventory policy in an industry in the metallurgical sector. The implementation of an inventory policy contributed to balancing inventories, organizing, and defining their practices. |
