The sectors of purchase and supplies are strategic departments for the enterprises. They are responsible for the acquisition of all the items needed for the company’s wellbeing, between them, there are raw materials. Among these department’s activities are the selection and the development of new suppliers and products, which are themes of this study. The raw materials selected for this study are the thermoplastic resins and their masterbatches, and, with the purpose of standardize the way that the selections and developments take place at the company and to eliminate the losses observed on old procedures, it created a new standard methodology for the employees. For such, the company took the standard praxis of the field, former activities already adopted, a new processes management system and a clear internal communication as examples of good steps to follow. Even though the company still is testing the new methodology, it already brought improvements in the daily activities, such as the possibility of extracting data of the current processes and tools that help the employees decide which will be the next development. This fact proofs that management tools can help decrease the loss and increase the value extraction for the companies. |
