Resumo: When considering education by the motto of culture, it is understood that the different cultural artifacts produce pedagogical effects on the subjects, that is, they modalize ways of learning, teaching and understanding the world. In the search for an understanding of being a woman scientist in Brazil, and how these bodies are marginalized, Joana D’Arc is brought to the scene as an affirmative icon of minority in the sciences. Woman, black, peripheral and scientist. However, due to her identity traits and her role in the media, a set of discursive placements place her as a “controversial” figure. From such a scenario derives this work, which aims to trace the production lines of Prof. Dra. Joana D'Arc Felix de Sousa and her representation, seeking to highlight the racial experiences suffered by her. To this end, news is raised that portrays its history, aiming to raise its titles as a synthesis of these narratives from the perspective of the Cultural Studies of Sciences and Education, as well as the narrative of its own history described by our interviewee in order to trace paths of (r)existence that our dirt faces daily. Therefore, it is necessary to understand some elements that strengthen or weaken the potential of racist discourses, seeking to rearticulate and (de)potentiate them.
