Due to the high demand for problem solving in the business, people are required to be prepared for the different types of problems detected, and they are also required to have known a model path to reach a solution. Several simple and practical tools are used for troubleshooting guidance, however, when dealing with a complex problem the tools usually applied may not be enough to get to the defect root cause. Thus, this study aims to apply some tools of a methodology for solving complex problems, the Shainin methodology, in identifying the root cause of package leakage in the formatting process at packaging industry. Based mainly on Gil (2002) for the elaboration of the research, and on Bothe (2000) for the Shainin methodology theoretical basis, this study presents a theoretical reference of the tool, contextualization of the situation and the failure, and the application of the tools with their respective results. With the discovery of two main root causes, the research details the evolution of this knowledge and resolution of the initially detected defect. |
