Resumo: This study aimed to study and understand the trajectory of Early Childhood Education in the city of. It was sought to understand the beginning of the processes of education of small children, equivalent to the current Infant Education, as well as its transformation and organization over time. Thus, the study highlights who these children are and the workers who use this type of education, as well as the current spaces destined to the accommodation of these children. To do so, we did a bibliographic study on the subject, we studied important aspects of the legislation inherent to the teaching modality in focus and, later, information surveys in the official platforms of the Municipality of São Paulo. In these platforms we have been able to verify the evolution of conception in the education of children, since it is available for consultation the documentation and the current legislation, as well as elucidating the expansion of the way in which Child Education is specifically conceived. In addition, it is possible to perceive that this stage of education seeks to expand the formation of a differentiated professional, who acts in this stage of education, resulting in the inclusion and regulation of this modality of education in basic education. Currently, education in the municipality is well developed, however there is still much to do to reach excellence.
