It was sought to understand the beginning of the processes of education of small children, equivalent to the current Infant Education, as well as its transformation and organization over time. Thus, the study highlights who these children are and the workers who use this type of education, as well as the current spaces destined to the accommodation of these children. To do so, we did a bibliographic study on the subject, we studied important aspects of the legislation inherent to the teaching modality in focus and, later, information surveys in the official platforms of the Municipality of São Paulo. In these platforms we have been able to verify the evolution of conception in the education of children, since it is available for consultation the documentation and the current legislation, as well as elucidating the expansion of the way in which Child Education is specifically conceived. In addition, it is possible to perceive that this stage of education seeks to expand the formation of a differentiated professional, who acts in this stage of education, resulting in the inclusion and regulation of this modality of education in basic education. Currently, education in the municipality is well developed, however there is still much to do to reach excellence. Este trabalho teve como objetivo o estudo e a compreensão da trajetória da Educação Infantil na cidade de São Paulo. Buscou-se compreender o início dos processos de educação de crianças pequenas, equivalente à atual Educação Infantil, bem como sua transformação e organização ao longo do tempo. Assim, o estudo destaca quem são essas crianças e os trabalhadores usuários dessa modalidade de ensino, bem como os espaços atuais destinados à acomodação dessas crianças. Para tanto, fizemos um estudo bibliográfico sobre o tema, estudamos aspectos importantes da legislação inerente à modalidade de ensino em foco e, posteriormente, levantamentos de informações nas plataformas oficiais do Município de São Paulo. Nessas plataformas pudemos verificar a evolução da concepção na educação de crianças, uma vez que está disponibiliza para consulta a documentação e a legislação vigente, bem como elucida a ampliação da forma como se concebe especificamente a Educação Infantil. Além disso, é possível perceber que essa etapa de educação procura a ampliação de formação de um profissional diferenciado, que atua nesta etapa da educação, resultando na inclusão e regulação desta modalidade de ensino na educação básica.
