Furthermore, she collaborated with at least 16 Portuguese periodicals. In Brazil, as an exiled immigrant, she wrote for many important newspapers, like: A Gazeta, O Estado de S. Paulo, and Portugal Democrático. This research aims to discuss about Maria Archer’s journalistic practice in 20th century Brazil, specifically in the periodicals Portugal Democrático and O Estado de S. Paulo, newspapers where she most stood out and which collaborated to the topic of the dissertation. Although she is pointed as one of the main names against António Salazar’s government, she is considered a forgotten writer, which sparked the interest of various researchers that will be quoted on the present research, mainly, Battista (2007; 2015; 2019; 2020); Bordeira (2014); Botelho (1994) and Santos de Matos (2013; 2014; 2017; 2019). With relation to the methodology that leads the work, there is the qualitative nature of the research, bibliographic in nature. As a result, the work seeks to show the lusitanic writer confrontation, that has her as a resistance symbol against Salazarism, censorship, and free thought deprivation in Portugal. Other significant point of the study is to clarify that Archer, unable to progress on her own country, searched in Brazil and in journalistic newsrooms, the exile and, as consequence, the opportunity of being a feminine representative on the regime’s opposition group. And how this representation conducted a reflexion about female journalistic elaboration on Portuguese speaking countries, that continues to be permeated by an imperative social model, regarding what is the responsibility of female activity in the public sphere. The research still is a way to salvage and to disseminate the author’s literary and journalistic deeds, by promoting and evaluating her respective creations. Maria Archer foi uma escritora portuguesa do século XX, que durante sua produtiva atividade literária escreveu mais de 30 obras, entre romances, novelas, relatos sobre a sua vivência em África, além de peças teatrais. Ademais, ela colaborou para, pelo menos, 16 periódicos de língua portuguesa. No Brasil, na condição de imigrante exilada, assinou para importantes jornais impressos como: A Gazeta, O Estado de S. Paulo, e Portugal Democrático. Assim, essa pesquisa tem como interesse discutir e analisar a prática jornalística de Maria Archer no Brasil do século XX, em especial nos periódicos Portugal Democrático e O Estado de S. Paulo, jornais em que ela mais se destacou e que colaboram para a discussão da dissertação. Apesar de ser apontada como um dos principais nomes da resistência contra o governo de António Salazar, Archer, é considerada uma escritora esquecida, o que despertou o interesse de pesquisadores que serão utilizados na presente pesquisa, essencialmente, Battista (2007; 2015; 2019; 2020); Bordeira (2014); Botelho (1994) e Santos de Matos (2013; 2014; 2017; 2019), além de se utilizar do pensamento sobre masculino e feminino de Beauvoir (1967; 1970). Com relação à metodologia que conduz o trabalho, tem-se o caráter qualitativo da pesquisa, de cunho bibliográfico. Como resultado, a pesquisa tem por finalidade evidenciar o enfrentamento da escritora lusitana, no que a dispõe como símbolo de resistência ao salazarismo, à censura e à privação de liberdade de pensamento em Portugal. Outro ponto significativo do estudo é elucidar que Archer, impossibilitada de prosseguir no próprio país, buscou no Brasil e nas redações jornalísticas, o exílio e, por consequência, a oportunidade de ser uma representante feminina no grupo de opositores ao regime. E como tal representatividade conduziu a reflexão sobre a elaboração jornalística feminina nos países falantes de português, que seguem permeados por um modelo social imperioso, no que diz respeito ao que se compete a atividade feminina na esfera pública.
