Resumo: Health Service Waste (RSS) are those generated in hospitals, medical and veterinary clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, basic health units, among others, which are classified into: Group A (biological or infectious waste), Group B ( chemical waste), Group C (radiative waste), Group D (common waste – recyclable or not) and Group E (sharp-cutting waste). The present study aimed to evaluate the management of health service waste at the Basic Health Unit (UBS), in a municipality in western Paraná. The methods used to carry out the analysis of the current situation, of the management of the RSS, of the UBS were documentary research to the legislation, action research and field research. The action research was based on collective self-reflection, since the researcher is part of the study's UBS health team. The field research, on the other hand, took place through the use of a field diary where information regarding the management of RSS was recorded, from on-site inspections, photographic records and weighing of waste, thus extracting information directly from the reality of this object of study, carried out during the months of January and February 2022. After the analysis, the information was verified in light of the current regulations, ANVISA RDC Resolution No. 222/2018 and CONAMA Resolution No. 358/2005, thus verifying, nonconformities in the management of RSS. As a final product of this study, the Health Services Waste Management Plan (PGRSS) was prepared, as well as a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and a training calendar on the subject, for the professionals who make up the Health Strategy teams. of the municipality's family.
