One of the most important and indispensable mathematical concepts that plays a central role, not only for mathematics, but for all science as well, is the concept of function. Functions are present in the description and study of most natural phenomena when the objective is to evaluate them quantitatively. Faced with this reality, this concept should occupy a place of prominence in High School, but, the vast majority of students have some difficulty in understanding the concept, and, this is a great challenge for high school mathematics teachers. Due to that, the necessity of seeking new teaching methods arises, through approaches that combine digital resources with interdisciplinarity, since traditional teaching methods can't keep students motivated and focused all of the time. In this work, we propose an integrated approach, between functions and optimization problems, which combines interdisciplinarity with active learning. The results show that the proposed interdisciplinary approach can significantly help high school students to understand the importance of the concept of functions, being no longer something abstract and irrelevant. |
