Resumo: The present study proposes a comparative study of the MAG C and MAG M welding processes in the automotive environment. In this context, the MAG welding process will be used to evaluate the weld bead in SAE 1020 carbon steel car sheets using an AWS A5.18 ER70S-6 wire with a diameter of 1.0mm for the MAG C process and 0.8mm for the MAG M process, in order to analyze the performance of the two processes through the base metal of the steel and reduce deformations in the plate. For this study, two samples will be used, one for each process, of a part taken from an automobile, which will be cut and prepared to be welded by the MAG process, and in each sample the parameters of current and voltage of welding with speed will be defined. constant. For each welded sample, liquid penetrant tests and hardness tests will be carried out, followed by a microstructural analysis by metallography.
