Brazilian citros production is of great importance for the country's economy, as it has a large area with orchards and high productivity, making the country the largest producer of Orange and one of the largest exporters of orange, lemon and tangerine juice, as well as producing much of the Lemon and Tangerine sold on Brazilian gondolas. In the municipalities that have citros as their main crop, the HDI is among the best in the country, showing that this activity can contribute to the development of the national economy. Over the years, there has been na increase in investment in technologies used in soil preparation, planting, cultural treatments and harvesting, as well as in studies to diagnose the productive chain at the agronomic, economic and sociocultural level. Thus, a study aimed to characterize the citros production chain in Brazil, in the South of Brazil, in Paraná, in the Southwest of Paraná, and in the three largest municipalities in the Southwest of Paraná (Dois Vizinhos, Francisco Beltrão and Nova Prata do Iguaçu), regarding production, export and import, as well as the profile of local citros producers. Secondary data were collected on FAOSTAT, COMEXSTAT and IBGE / SIDRA online platforms. Entities linked to the activity were also interviewed. It is concluded that in the southwest of Paraná the production is incipient and there is a lack of commercialization structures capable of encouraging the production and that more studies are necessary for the effective understanding of this chain in the Southwest of Paraná in the links that are linked to the government policies of credit and technical assistance and mainly in aspects related to the commercialization and local distribution of citros and its structures. |
