This study seeks not only to praise their work, but also to spread their narratives as positive means for creating a society based on equality. These actors contribute, personal and professionally, to eradicate the myths concerning black African peoples, disseminated in several contexts of Brazilian society, especially in schools. African ancestry values respect towards nature and elderly people, as wise guardians of the stories that shape us as individuals and as a community. This knowledge, however, is dissipated through oral tradition, claiming systematization, valorization and universalization in academic literature. This study intends to right this wrong, bringing a little part of the valuable treasure through the narratives of individuals that represent African ancestry models to the academic ambiance. May these “Vidas que falam” be the example of the Brazilian society that we seek and intend to build! May the new generations acknowledge these models and mirror them! This is the mission this project means to accomplish. O livro Vidas que falam resgata a ação de atores sociais de Curitiba e Região Metropolitana, em diversas áreas de atuação, no que se refere à promoção da ancestralidade africana e no fortalecimento da consciência negra. Não apenas para lhes prestar o justo reconhecimento, mas principalmente para que suas narrativas constituam exemplos positivos na formação de uma sociedade justa e igualitária. Exemplos que contribuem, em suas ações cotidianas e profissionais para a derrubada de mitos acerca dos povos negros africanos, propagados em diversos âmbitos da sociedade brasileira, especialmente, na escola. A ancestralidade africana prima pelo respeito à natureza, cuidado e respeito às pessoas idosas, sábias e detentoras das histórias que nos formam como indivíduos e como comunidade. Esta riqueza, no entanto, encontra-se dispersa no povo brasileiro, sendo conhecida por sua comunidade através da oralidade, mas não sistematizada, valorizada e universalizada na literatura acadêmica. Este livro visa corrigir esse equívoco. Traz para a comunidade acadêmica uma pequena parte desse valioso tesouro, através de narrativas de pessoas que representam modelos de ancestralidade africana. Que estas Vidas que falam sejam o exemplo do Brasil e da sociedade que podemos e queremos construir! Que as novas gerações conheçam e sigam seus exemplos!
