Resumo: This research examines the phenomenon of the interactive digital book for children. The objects of study are the app-books that won the Jabuti Prize, the most traditional prize in the Brazilian book market, in the category Digital for Children, introduced experimentally in 2015 and ended in 2018. An extensive exploratory research was carried out and a theoretical foundation was set, the main references being Hayles (2002), Antonio (2011), Teixeira (2015), Corrêa (2016), Kirchof (2009; 2013; 2016), and Ribeiro (2017). The work is divided in two large parts. The first has a historiographical approach: it addresses the Jabuti Prize and the context of the introduction of the category Digital for Children, the changes in the regulation and the 13 award-winning works - eight books and one collection -, focusing on the app-books that got the first prize. The second part turns to practical and theoretical matters, discussing crucial issues: variety of formats, multiple authorship, materiality and evanescence, as well as demand and market. The research aims to contribute to the understanding of this type of production, its contexts and challenges today, at the end of the second decade of the 21st century, based on the observation of what has been produced, its formats, market data, the view of publishers of traditional books, digital publishers and authors of children's and juvenile literature, concepts and discussions on evanescence and materiality. It also proposes a clear definition of what constitutes materiality regarding digital books. Different methods of research and approaches were used: comparative descriptions and evaluations of the immanent character of the awarded works; technical guidance from professionals who work in the production of digital books; quantitative data from previously available research; interviews with stakeholders in this market; as well as a survey with authors of children's and juvenile literature through a semi-structured online form.
