The proposal came from the verification of the lack of a space that serves as support for patients leaving their city of residence to perform the treatment in Curitiba, in order to propose a space that contributes to the improvement of patients' quality of life and their companions during this difficult phase of their lives. Therefore, the present research addresses the concept of Casa de Apoio, its importance, characteristics and principles, in order to provide the necessary basis for the development of the work. Some correlated studies are also analyzed, which reveal different proposals and establish adequate repertoire for the subsequent project. Finally, after collecting data and information about the Erasto Gaertner Hospital and its surroundings, it is possible to determine the ground for the installation of the Child and Infant Cancer Center, as well as the guidelines that must be fulfilled for the development of the project. O presente estudo busca servir de referencial teórico para posteriormente desenvolver o projeto arquitetônico de um Centro Oncológico Infantojuvenil, para atender as crianças e os adolescentes em tratamento contra o câncer do Hospital Erastinho. A proposta surgiu a partir da verificação da carência de um espaço que sirva de apoio aos pacientes que saem de sua cidade de moradia, para realizar o tratamento em Curitiba, de forma a propor um espaço que contribua para a melhoria da qualidade de vida dos pacientes e seus acompanhantes durante essa difícil fase de suas vidas. Para tanto, na presente pesquisa é abordado o conceito de Casa de Apoio, sua importância, características e princípios, a fim de proporcionar as bases necessárias para o desenvolvimento do trabalho. Também são analisados alguns estudos correlatos, os quais revelam diferentes propostas e estabelecem repertório adequado para o posterior projeto.
