The author makes bibliographical research from fundamental concept of design and hybrid image, through the multiple possibility of relationships between surface design and graphic design, and also through contemporary definitions and productions in surface design. Following are shown more topics considered of importance to the construction of the theoretical basis are presented, they are: relevant elements to the design and considerations for hybrid and synesthesia, in order to provide support for the discussion concerning the hybrid image and surface design. In order to assist the practical experimentation has reference to the study of some works of the designer Stefan Sagmeister, which can be identified as belonging to a hybrid surface design. Finally, the subject is explored in practice trial, complementing what was previously seen and translating the concepts into the visual language. O presente trabalho teórico-prático tem como principal objetivo o estudo da imagem híbrida no design gráfico. Investigar e refletir acerca da hibridação no processo de criação de design, assim como a hibridação no próprio design. A autora realiza pesquisa bibliográfica a partir de conceitos fundamentais sobre design e imagem híbrida, passando pelas possibilidades de relações múltiplas entre o design de superfície e o design gráfico, e também definições e produções contemporâneas em design de superfície. Na sequência são apresentados mais temas considerados relevantes para a construção da base teórica, são eles: elementos pertinentes ao design e considerações sobre híbrido e sinestesia, afim de fornecer suporte para a discussão no entorno da imagem híbrida e o design de superfície. Para auxiliar na experimentação prática tem-se como referência o estudo de algumas obras do designer Stefan Sagmeister, as quais podem ser identificadas como pertencentes a um design de superfície híbrido.
