Resumo: The exploitation of solar energy to generate electricity is an interesting substitute to fossil sources of energy. With this in mind, methods that optimize electricity generation through solar power are essential. For that, this project focuses on the development of an algorithm based on Fuzzy logic for the usage of solar tracking systems, in order to position solar panels. The algorithm was evaluated using a photovoltaic panel and a small-sized structure. The positioning system operates two degrees of freedom: azimuth and inclination. The azimuth refers to the horizontal position of the panel, while the inclination refers to the vertical position. Two servomotors move the system. Four photoresistor sensors are used to identify the position of the Sun through the Fuzzy controller, and so, to move the structure to the correct position. The structure is controlled by Arduino, with a specifically developed library for embedded systems. The project evaluates the performance of the tracking system compared to a fixed one, in order to check the feasibility of the algorithm implementation. The algorithm succeeded in positioning the photovoltaic panel.
