In many cases, chemotherapy is the only treatment that is really applicable when fighting several types of cancer, including the acute myeloid leukemia. Because it is a complex treatment, with more than one type of drug being used simultaneously, allied with the fact that many of the drugs used have to be imported, it may become extremely expensive. The optimal control for its unique feature of cost minimization, is a potential tool to reduce the use of the drugs during the treatment, maintaining its efficiency and in many cases even reducing its side effects |
