Resumo: The purpose of this study was to develop a different method for assessing the degree of compaction (DC) based on the results of the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP). The DCP has been undergone studies for year in many countries, especially because the test procedure is considered to be easy, fast and inexpensive. The studies on the DCP try to correlate its results to the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) results, aiming the substitution of the CBR which is a worldwide known method for pavement designing. This project, though, focused on assessing the degree of compaction (DC) based on the correlations of penetration resistance, dry unit weight and moisture content of a soil. This study confirms how practical the methodology of the DCP test is, due to the fact that many test were done. The results achieved on this project shows that the method proposed is simple and the DCP can be used to assess the degree of compaction of a soil.
