This work describes the development of a bottle filling machine that can fill and cap about 150 bottles per hour, with a precision of +/- 1% of the filled volume. Due to those characteristics, this machine can be useful for small companies working with small scale production. The prototype uses a peristaltic pump as main pumping device, a carousel that drives the bottles, a cap tightener with torque control and belts to move the bottles. The machine is built in aluminum and is controlled by a PLC, with a supervisory system that monitors the process. We compared positive and negative aspects of our machine, with the same aspects of commercial ones. In comparison with the commercial products, the prototype shows a lower cost, similar precision, but lower production speeds. Another advantage of our machine is that it is fully integrated, which means that it can fill and cap a bottle, while usually it is necessary to deploy two different machines to perform such operations. |
