Resumo: The aim of this work is to analyze the excessive wear observed in electrical components used in rail guided vehicles systems. The work is divided in two parts: the characterization of the components and the building of a electromechanical system able to simulate such wear. Hardness and roughness measurements and microstructural analyses showed significant differences between new and worn components, allowing conclude that adhesive wear is the key player in the deterioration of materials. The automated system for simulation of wear has been tested and will be used to test possible solutions that could reduce wear of electrical components, without compromising the productivity of the assembly line.
