Resumo: This paper has the objective to evaluate, quantify and distinguish the solid debris collected by the trawling in Matinhos and Shangri-lá. The samples collected between October 2009 and June 2011 by the REBIMAR project were washed, weighted and separated in groups according to their chemical composition and origin. This way, was made an occurrence analysis of this material by seasons. With the weight value obtained, were calculated the mean value and the deviations of the IAL (Índice de Abundância do Lixo). Lastly, was verified that the debris found in the bottom of the oceans are from antropic origins, mainly from tourism and fishing from the area studied. This “garbage” ends up damaging the local fauna. Turtles, birds and other animals ingest this material and end up dying. By the means of the results obtained we hope to make people aware about this serious problem.
