Resumo: The CTSA perspective is an approach that needs to interrelate scientific contents whit science, technology, society and environment as, for example, questions related to technological advances (example: computers, cell phones, electronic devices) that can impact on society and the environment. Therefore, it is imperative that the teacher insert in the teaching of Chemistry discussions that allow the student to reflect and think about the CTSA in their daily life. Considering these considerations, this work was developed to plan the teaching of the content of Electrochemistry under the CTSA proposal to evaluate how Chemistry graduates conceive the CTSA relations for the teaching and learning processes. For this, sought to answer the following question: "What is the importance of the CTSA proposal for the initial formation of the Chemistry teacher?". The collect of qualitative data was attended by eight residents of the Pedagogical Residency Program of the Degree in Chemichal Education, who contributed with reflections, questionnaire responses and group interviews during the application of the CTSA proposal for the teaching of Electrochemistry, titled: "Electro-portable devices and electrical appliance devices: friends or foes?". The results obtained were analyzed through Discursive Textual Analysis, according to Moraes and Galiazzi (2006). It was concluded that, at the beginning of the research, the graduates conceptions about the CTSA perspective still evidenced the need to deal more deeply with the subject, revealing the importance of research in contributing to the re-elaboration of their perceptions. Above all, the seriousness of aproach more effectively aspects related to CTSA in initial teacher formation, in sense of to learn how to contemplate the needs of the student, of the teacher in having to research to plan, apply and evaluate their classes via CTSA. For future research, it is suggested the application of the CTSA proposal for the teaching of Electrochemistry.
