Resumo: This research has as its main goal to identify whether Londrina’s consumers face difficulties when understanding the information presented in food’s labels. The research elaborates about possible reasons concerning lack of comprehension and traces parameters to help understand said labels. This research took place in Londrina/PR to a diverse and broad audience by means of an online survey with closed answers, respecting the dignity of the subjects. The expected results of a population who struggles in decoding food labelling are confirmed and point to an inattentive, under informed, and confused consumer. Although extensive and specific laws have been created to help communication between industries and their consumers through food labelling, there is still a considerable number of understanding problems that need attention. In conclusion, well informed customers consume what best adapts to their food and health which will only occur if there is a change on society’s stance when looking at food labels and its importance as well as valuing the technological process behind all industries’ food chain.
