Resumo: This work aims the automation of a home brewing equipment, controlling the temperature and the time between two of the process’s steps: mashing and fermenting. Initially, the ingredients and a method for brewing are briefly presented, as well as a study on how to model a thermal process and basic control techniques commonly used. For the implementation of a prototype, a electrical resistance was adapted in a cauldron and the data acquisition system to collect data was developed. After verifying the non-linearity of the system, three (PI) controllers were projected, to satisfy certain of the equipment’s operating range. The interaction of the user with the equipment was implemented through an interface using a graphic display and buttons, allowing setting a recipe and monitoring the process.
