This paper seeks to perform a dynamic comparative analysis on two mechanisms of motion transformation, a crank rod and a scotch yoke. Because there is little research on the dynamics of the scotch yoke, it has been decided to make a comparison with the crank rod to better evaluate the overall performance of the scotch yoke. In order to perform the simulations, it was necessary to use 3D CAD software, Autodesk Inventor®, in which it is possible to model, assemble and simulate a mechanism under variouzs conditions and obtain, among several information, the dynamic analysis of the mechanism. Three dimensions cases for the two mechanisms were tested under various initial conditions of velocity and acceleration, in order to obtain a greater range of information to make the comparison between them. After the simulations, it was possible to verify that, in general, the crank rod develops greater forces in its joints, but also works on greater tensions, when compared to the scotch yoke. |
