We are, specifically, dedicated to the analyzes of drawings and interviews done with students from five partner schools of a larger project on the subject, funded by CNPq, three municipal and two state schools. We present the research results in three articles that constitute this graduation final paper. The first article discusses the drawings made by the students, presenting, in the case of the fifth grade students, how the school year was and their expectations for the sixth grade, and in the case of the sixth grade students, how was their experience in the sixth grade and their memories of the fifth grade. The second article also considers the same drawings, but it is devoted to the interpretations of teachers in the schools where students study when they analyze these drawings. Analyzing the drawings, it is clear that many of the images taken by fifth grade students, and consequently their expectations for the sixth grade, reflect the practices and discourses of the teachers themselves in the classroom. The third article is based on interviews made with the students. On this, we sick to investigate several episodes that contribute to the understanding of why the transition from the fifth to the sixth grade presents so many tensions in the students’ lives. Thus, this paper argues that students, as members of a society, need support from both their teachers and their families at this special moment of their school life, being important to them having space to express their opinions, to foment discussions in favor of their development and opportunities to meet and answer questions about their expectations. Fundação Araucária de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico do Paraná Este trabalho parte da preocupação de se entender as expectativas e impressões de estudantes de quintos e sextos anos do Ensino Fundamental, em relação ao processo de transição de um ano escolar para o outro. Nos dedicamos, especificamente, à análise de desenhos e entrevistas feitos com os alunos de cinco escolas parceiras de um projeto maior sobre o tema, financiado pelo CNPq, três municipais e duas estaduais. Apresentamos os resultados da pesquisa em três artigos que constituem este trabalho de conclusão de curso. O primeiro artigo discute os desenhos feitos pelos estudantes, apresentando no caso dos alunos do quinto ano, como se deu o ano escolar e suas expectativas para o sexto ano, e no caso dos alunos do sexto ano, como foi sua vivência no sexto ano e suas lembranças do quinto ano. O segundo artigo também considera os mesmos desenhos, mas se dedica às interpretações de professores das escolas em que estudam os alunos quando analisam estes desenhos. Ao analisarem os desenhos, percebe-se que muitas das imagens feitas pelos alunos do quinto ano, e consequentemente suas expectativas em relação ao sexto ano, refletem as práticas e discursos dos próprios docentes em sala de aula. O terceiro artigo, baseia-se nas entrevistas realizadas com os alunos, buscamos averiguar diversos episódios que contribuam com a compreensão do porquê a transição do quinto para o sexto ano se apresenta com tantas tensões na vida dos estudantes.
