Resumo: This study aimed to examine whether the Proposed Curriculum and content of the books of the Teacher and Student of the discipline of science, provided bythe Ministry of Education of São Paulo, are contributing to building knowledge of students about the importance of a healthy diet. In order to check the students` knowledge about the concept and importance of healthy eating habits, a survey was conducted descriptive and qualitative, with twenty (20) students of 8 thand 9 th years of the State School “Caetano Lourenço de Camargo”, located in city of Jaú – SP. It was observed that students do not adopt health yeating habits, but cannot be said that this fact is due to a disability curriculum and may be caused by the influence of situations that occur outside of school. It is necessary to reflect on new teaching methods and attitudes related to other indicators such as family eating habits, economic status and even the influence of mass media in order to contribute to the word of the teacher and the general objectives of the curriculum.
