Poor conservation of roads and highways is a major cause of traffic accidents. Brazil, being a country of continental proportions, faces a difficult task to carry out the maintenance of these roads. The objective of this project is to develop a system capable of detecting when a vehicle passes over holes in a running track, informing a server its location and date of when the detection occurred. Inertial sensors and a development kit containing a Xilinx Zynq 7000 SoC were used. In the FPGA, low-pass filters and communication with inertial sensors were implemented. In the microprocessor, the Complementary Filter, the pothole detection algorithm, and the serial communication with a GPS sensor and a server were implemented. The communication between FPGA and microprocessor is done through the AMBA AXI protocol. A field test was performed using a vehicle in the city of Curitiba, which obtained a satisfactory result for the developed system. |
