Resumo: This research deals with the reality of remote education due to the pandemic period at a municipal elementary school in the city of Ubiratã-PR. It is a study with exploratory objectives and quantitative treatment of data. This treaty sought to identify the personal and professional profile of the actors who attend the institution under study, as well as the accessibility, development and acceptance of classes in a virtual way. In this study, the importance of the mobile smartphone device is presented as an instrument of teaching mediation during social isolation. The objective of this study was also to bring up the perspective of the institution's teachers regarding the atypical moment that education experienced in the period. To this end, questionnaires were applied with students and teachers (at different times and locations) directly impacted by this type of teaching. Through research, it can be seen that, despite the efforts of teachers during the pandemic, there is an urgent need for initiatives on the part of governmental spheres regarding the provision of training and capacity building programs for the use of new technological methodologies to work with remote teaching. Another aspect that stood out in the research was the perception of the limitations that parents and family members have to collaborate with the teaching and learning process; this fact, indirectly proven, when listening to teachers and students. The research demonstrates the important role that smartphones play in the learning of students who are, every day, more connected to digital media through this technology.
