Resumo: Through self-knowledge in childhood it is possible to identify many aspects of the child’s personal and social individuality, as well as recognize their positive qualities, limitations and preferences. The project presented here uses graphic design tools to bring children closer to such reflections, often avoided in Western culture. To this end, it proposes the redesign of the philosophy book for children written by Jostein Gaarder, “I ask myself…”, which brings a series of questions that contribute to the development of self-knowledge. The motivation for this project came from the book visual narrative analysis, which allowed us to identify points in the visual communication that reinforce the negative connotation of the exercise of selfknowledge. The stages of this project consisted, therefore, in: analyzing the editorial project of the original book, redesigning of characters and visual narrative, researching illustration interaction strategies, creating pop-up mechanisms, developing illustrations adapted to the mechanisms created, and the final prototype. The complete process is documented here.
