Resumo: The use of electricity is currently indispensable in human life and daily life, thus providing evolution, comfort, and safety. However, over the years, the consumption of this energy is on the rise, coupled with inefficient methods of its use. Society can be branched into different sectors, where the refrigeration sector is one of the major responsible for this consumption of electrical energy. Thus, it is valid to study this sector in order to seek the reduction of energy consumption, because it is preferable to optimize the available electrical energy compared to the option of increasing its amount. In this way, this work analyzed a cold storage chamber inserted in the commercial sector, whose data was obtained via an opensource system. It was also performed a survey of the thermal load of this chamber, for comparison with the refrigeration system already installed. From the results, the thermal behavior of the chamber is obtained, thus verifying that in fact there is no temperature homogeneity. This is due to some factors, such as the excess of products and the lack of air circulation in the refrigerated environment. Consequently, these problems affect the proper functioning of the establishment and reflect in the temperature and quality of the products. With the thermal load survey, it is observed that the refrigeration system is just enough and despite the products reaching the required temperature, it is a process that demands more than one day, which is harmful to the business. Thus, suggestions and consulting are made to improve the operation of the establishment. In addition, there is the validation of the data acquisition system because it has worked well since the test stages. An important factor, due to future applications for the system, including other works and proving its usefulness for automation processes and assisting in consulting companies.
