Resumo: This paper seeks to clarify how orality was losing its space in a highly technological world where people communicate much more virtually than in person, seeks to recover the value of family conversations, and told the stories passed on for generations, seeks to show that these same stories which today no longer have much value, emerged centuries ago and continue to exert a strong influence on the emotional development of children, deeply contributing in shaping your personality and internalization of values, since the lack of it, has been one of the biggest problems our current society , dominated by lack of self - control, disrespect to others, violence and emotional health fully committed. Besides all these factors, this study we sought to clarify that the storytelling also brings numerous benefits for cognitive development, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, oral communication, disinhibition, reading generated by the pleasure of looking at the books same stories heard. Besides these issues addressed, was still discoursed about features that counters educators can use stories to make this moment even more special and enjoyable, such as puppets, puppets, origami, among others, and finally there are suggestions on how to make the moments of reading even more dynamic and class room activities to explore the story read or told, always aiming to arouse the taste for stories and wanderlust in the fantastic world of words.
