This paper presents a study of the written production of Elementary School students in the fourth grade on a task divided in steps containing an open question of Mathematics. The objective was to investigate how students dealt with this
type of issue through discovering the strategies most used and the most frequent errors. It was used a task divided in steps with an assessment perspective as a research practice and a
learning opportunity, which helped to provide some information on the students’ mathematical reasoning, as well as aiding on reflections upon teaching practice. |
