In this way, students generally receive a scientific education based on the results of already established scientific theories. However, an understanding of nature of science will be absent without an history and without an epistemology that clarifies how scientific facts were constructed. This paper aims to bring a reflection on the collective construction of scientific knowledge. In this way, some correspondences between Leibniz and Newton are analyzed, through which on tries to understand how knowledge was constructed in relation to the infinite series. The emphasis on the collective construction of scientific knowledge is based on the epistemology of Ludwik Fleck (1897-1961), which is based on the perspective that science is a social and collective construction and is therefore not the result of the individual actions of scientists. We used documentary research and data analysis performed through content analysis by Bardin (2016). Finally, as a result, the contributions of other mathematicians, in addition to Newton, to the constitution of a new Style of Thought and consequent influence in mathematical disciplines from the 17th century to the present day, can be characterized by the Fleckian categories Intercollective Circulation of Ideas and Proideias.
