This paper aims to analyze the performance and strategies of elementary school students when solving different types of problems. The theoretical foundation covers problem solving, problem types and resolution strategies. The research approach is qualitative, exploratory and the participants were 17 students from the 6th year of elementary school. The instrument for data collection consisted of six different types of problems. The interaction with the students took place online, and the records of the resolutions made by the participants were presented with the sending of a photo, from an online platform. Thus, it was possible to analyze the students' resolution strategies and conclude that the most used by them were the use of basic operations and intuitive thinking. Regarding performance, in the standard-compound type problem, the participants did better
