Resumo: This study proposes a reflection on the scientific assumptions of Active Learning Methodologies, especially regarding peer instruction, peer learning. In terms of methodology, the research encompasses field study, bibliographic, descriptive and analytical methods. The proposal was applied together with students of Chemistry at a high school public in the city of Londrina, Brazil. The results showed that this methodology can be effective and assist students in the teaching and learning process. The students presented higher scores than those recommended by the authors who analyze activities involving active learning methodologies.
